90 percent of emergency rooms visits due to fireworks involve consumer fireworks. More than half are burns. Many of the injuries are life-altering. Many experts recommend not using consumer or home fireworks at all, and to make summer memories at professionally conducted fireworks displays instead.
This week, we shared how to keep pets and children safe from fireworks. We shared some information on how hot sparklers can burn, and where on the body consumer fireworks tend to injure. We also shared a safety video from the Consumer Products Safety Commission and an interactive quiz. We hope it helps start a safety conversation with your kids as the Fourth of July holiday rolls around.
And don’t forget about your pets – they can get scared or injured by fireworks too!
Let’s keep them all safe this year. It’s time to make some brilliant memories! It all starts, of course, with safety first.
