When you read about tragedies in stories such as “Ohio AG and Group Unveil Changes to Improve Child Welfare System,” by Mary McCarty you really start to question the child welfare system, not just in Ohio, but all across America as well.
In my opinion, the entire child welfare system needs to be tossed out of the window and started fresh. When it was first started, hearts were in the right place, and a difference was made. The child abusers were brought out in the open and stopped or put away where they should be. No child should be hurt by the two people who are supposed to love and protect them above any and everything else.
So, just where did our system go wrong? When did children start being released back into the hands of the monsters who abused them only to end up with lives cut short at an age when they have just started to live? These questions are the ones that need to be addressed by every child care agency in America. When these questions are answered, maybe, just maybe, the system can do its job and protect the innocent like they were originally meant to do.
