May is national foster care month, although many people don’t realize it. You can make a huge difference in the life of an orphaned child just by becoming a foster parent. National foster care month is designed to not only honor the citizens that choose to be foster parents, but to educate others on how to become foster parents and on how much of a difference can be made to a child by becoming one.
Think about it this way, what if something happened to you and your spouse and no one in your family could take your children. If they ended up in the system, wouldn’t you want someone to take them in and give them a home, and the love that you know they so richly deserve. If you are wanting to become a foster care parent then check out Dave Bakker’s article for the Chicago Tribune entitled, “National Foster Care Month: An Opportunity of a Lifetime,” for more information. It is the opportunity of a lifetime, just as the article states. Not only will you have an amazing feeling about yourself but you will be helping a child become the responsible adult that they all should have the chance to become.
